The County Board adopted a budget which Puts People First and maintains the safety net of services provided by Milwaukee County including mental health services, disability services, and IDAP, the Interim Disability Assistance Program, transit and Paratransit, and the Community Justice Resource Center.
To fund these services and others, the board very narrowly approved an increase in the 2010 tax levy of 3.8% over the current levy. Owners of homes valued at $150,000 last year in the City of Milwaukee would see the County portion of their property tax bills rise by approximately $7.65 in 2010. This equates to a mere 64 cents a month – a modest investment which will fund vital services and maintain the quality of life in our community.
